little　＝　すこししかない   →少ししかない

Some of my favorite videos

One of our daughters lives in Tokyo. She came for a visit. She stayed for the weekend to take part in our other daughter's birthday party. She likes movies. She has a handful of DVDs. She brought them with her this time. They are videos that I also like. So, I watched three of them. One is "A Night at The Opera". It stars the MARX Brothers. The movie was made in 1935. It is black and white. It is my favorite movie ever! The second movie I watched was "The Wizard of Oz". It stars Judie Garland. It is a very nice and happy movie, even though "Dorothy" was crying many times. I also noted (saw) that she was rather chubby. While I was watching this movie I was also doing a crossword puzzle. One of the questions said "The Cowardly Lion actor". He is in this movie. What a coincidence! The third movie she brought was "The Blues Brothers". I hadn't seen that for a very long time. In it I saw the scene that features Aretha Franklin. She passed away (died) a couple for weeks ago. The scene was fantastic. I had a very quiet time at home enjoying some of my favorite movies.

A trip by Akiko Part 2

I got off at Nagoya on my way back to Omiya. Nagoya castle is famous for the gold Sachihoko on the castle tower roof. It was also a hot, sunny day and the gold Sachihoko was shining brightly in the sky. Unfortunately the tower was closed because it had a problem with its earthquake resistance work. Fortunately, the Honmaru Palace, which is in front of he castle tower was recently rebuilt and was opened to the public in June. The old Honmaru Palace was destroyed by air strikes during World War ll. When I went there about 20 years ago, only the foundation stones were  lined up. It was accurately rebuilt based on old photos and drawings. It looked gorgeous! On top of that, it was built with Kiso Hinoko Cypress so it smelled so good. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, too. 
However there was one thing that disappointed me this trip. I saw the Urawa Reds completely annihilated (destroyed/defeated) by the Nagoya Grampus Eight at Toyota Stadium the night before I visited the Honmaru Palace. Sigh.

A trip by Akiko Part 1

I went to Himeji and Nagoya at the end of August. The Himeji Castle was built in the early Edo period and is known as the "White Egret Castle" because it resembles (looks like) a white egret in flight. Major repairs were completed on it a few years ago. My friend visited it last year and and told me that it was very beautiful. "You should go and see it as soon as possible before it gets dirty." she said. I saw it from Himeji station first. I was far in the distance but it looked so beautiful. My friend's advice was correct. I have never seen such a beautiful castle in my life. Even though it was a very hot day many people had come to see it. I thought they completely enjoyed it. 

My September

I can't believe that it's October already! It seems like it was so hot in July and August. But now the weather is turning cooler and we don't use the A/C very much now. September is gone. I want to recap mine. First, I didn't drink alcohol from September 9th till today. I had hoped to be alcohol free all month but it was impossible. I also went to the gym 12 times. That is an average of 3 times a week. On top of that I increased the gym time from 90 minutes to 120 minutes...2 hours. That is because I take a shower at the gym instead of at home. (In the summer it is easy to go home and shower). I had some extra time off this month as there were two Monday holidays. One of my lessons was also off for three weeks. They resume again this Saturday. M and I went out for dinner a couple of times. I did  weeding next door and gardening around our house. At the school I made some CDs. The Eiken guests are this weekend so I was teaching those kids very hard. But now it's October. My how time flies! (PICTURE They cleared a small forest from one area very near our house. I wonder why.)
